In 1998 IDA Corporation introduced its Engineering Design and Manufacturing Services. From concept to manufactured product, IDA has the experience and expertise to provide help at each step of product development. Independently capable with its own engineering, manufacturing and marketing resources IDA has the unique opportunity to be a one-stop source for turn-key systems. Included are firmware and software design, printed circuit board design and application software programming. Production includes through-hole and surface mount board population, wire-harness and final assembly.
Traditionally IDA Corporation has concentrated its efforts on equipment and products designed for use in the land mobile communications industry. Among the first product types established at IDA were accessories used with two-way radio installations including microphones, remotes and telephone interconnects. IDA actively markets its conventional product line to approximately 4000 two-way radio dealers.
In 1985 IDA began building equipment for Specialized Mobile Radio (SMR) operators. This is equipment which is installed at tower sites for control of multiple repeaters, telephone line access and site linking. IDA was the first in the industry to provide a data accumulator which captured the identity of the caller along with the duration of the call, making possible air time billing for SMR service. Prior to using this product, SMRs were limited to charging flat rates per month and had little opportunity to manage communications traffic on the system.
Since 1985 IDA Corporation has been a preferred, single-source supplier for General Electric/Ericsson system products (M/A-COM). These products include remotes, panels and other OEM equipment.
IDA Corporation introduced its first GPS AVL product, TRAKIT, in December 1996. This product line is currently being marketed directly and indirectly to a wide variety of industries.
